  • I worked the overnight at a warehouse supply place off Rock Blvd for three years, and after the second reorg in April they cut all overtime. My checks dropped from around 640 a week to just over 400, and I've been behind since June. I interviewed at a parts distributor near Vista two weeks ago and they said they'd call this week. My phone got shut off Friday, so if they called, it went nowhere. I tried the assistance office at the Community Assistance Center but their phone-bill funds ran out on the 14th and they told me to check back in October. I sold my car radio and a bike to cover part of it. What I need is the 190 to turn the line back on before Monday at 9, when I have a phone benefits hearing and the same number is the callback for the second interview. I can show the shutdown notice and the past due amount. Work picked up at the warehouse last week, so I'll pay it forward to the next person here as soon as I get my first full check with the extra shifts.

  • I start a new job Tuesday at a warehouse off Morena Blvd, 6 a.m. shift, and my bike is my only way there since the truck died last month and I let the insurance lapse. Two weeks ago I sold my old lock and lights at a swap meet on Sports Arena to cover a court date that turned out to conflict with a paid shift, so I lost the shift and the gear both. I need $310 to replace them. The bike shop on Cass Street quoted me $340 for a good U-lock, front and rear lights, and a tune-up since the chain's been skipping, but I can cover the difference with what's left on a grocery gift card. I've already asked 211 and the Kearny Mesa assistance office, and both said they only do rent and utilities. I'd ride down to pick up the gear in person. Show me the receipt and I'll post a photo of the new setup on my handlebars from the warehouse parking lot Wednesday. I get paid the 15th and will pass the $310 to whoever's next in line here.

  • I'm in Atlanta, out on the west side near the old Kroger on Donald Lee Hollowell. On the 14th of last month a tree limb came down on my Civic during that freak storm and State Farm told me it was a total loss. I got $340 for it from a salvage place and between that and pawning my TV and the microwave, I put $600 toward the $950 I owe. The landlord's office manager, Ms. Patterson, said if I don't have the $350 balance by this Friday at 5, they start eviction. I've called United Way 211 and they're out of rent funds until next month, and the Westside emergency assistance place had a waitlist of 40 families. I applied for a payment plan with the property management but they denied it. I need $110 to cover the rest of what I'm missing after my sister said she could do $240. Once I get it I'll get a money order and hand it to Ms. Patterson before Friday, and I'll send a photo of the receipt. I start a new dishwashing job at the diner on MLK on the 3rd, so I'll be able to pay this forward on my first paycheck. Anything helps. Thank you.

  • I live in the apartment row off the highway in Richmond, the one with the shared laundry room down by the leasing office. Two weeks ago the storm that rolled through took out the only car that runs in our household, a 2006 Impala. Water got into the wiring and the shop on Midlothian quoted more than the car is worth to fix it. I've been walking my uniforms to the bus stop on Route 1 to get to my shifts at the distribution center, and that part is fine. What's not fine is the laundry card machine in Building C, which is card only, no quarters. I'm down to $4.12 on the card, enough for maybe one small load. I need $190 to load the card, which at $1.75 a wash and $1.25 a dry covers five weeks of uniforms and towels for me and my daughter. I already checked with the leasing office, they don't do payment plans on the card, and I sold my old phone last week which got me through the last two weeks of groceries but nothing else. If anyone can help I'll send a photo of the receipt from the card machine the same day, and once I start getting full paychecks again in November I want to pass the same amount on to whoever's next in line on here.

  • I got hired at the Tyson plant out on the west corridor and orientation starts Monday at 6 a.m., but I can't walk in without a current TB test and the badge photo they take at the same clinic. My landlord is holding my last $150 against a plumbing repair from February, so I'm at $11 in my account until the first paycheck on the 27th. I already called the county health department and the soonest sliding-scale slot is two weeks out, which is past my start date. I tried the er clinic on Ridge but they wanted $185 up front just to draw blood, and the hiring office told me they can't push orientation back without me losing the position. The $260 covers the test, the photo, and the bus fare to get there twice. I can show you the offer letter and the receipt from the clinic, and I'll pay it back in two chunks once I'm on the schedule. If you can meet me at the QT on Central Saturday morning, I'll bring copies of everything.

  • I got laid off from my warehouse job at the end of last month, same week our lease ended on the riverside blocks. My girlfriend and I are staying with her cousin near the bus depot while we look for a new place, but the timing wiped us out. We spent what we had on the deposit and moving the few things we kept. We're down to canned beans and rice, and my girlfriend is pregnant, so she needs real food. I've tried the food bank at the church on Bristol Road twice, but they only give a bag once a week and it doesn't cover much. I also called 211 but they said to try again Monday. I'm asking for $320 to get groceries and some basics like milk, eggs, bread, and fruit for the next two weeks. I can show receipts and I'll pay it back once I start my new job at the end of the month. Thanks for reading.

  • I lost my warehouse job at the port back in August when they cut the night shift, and I've been cobbling together DoorDash runs and day labor ever since. Two weeks ago I finally got a callback from a logistics company over on the west corridor, and they want me in for a second interview Friday morning. Problem is I have exactly one pair of decent pants and they've got a grease stain I can't get out. I also had a court date last Tuesday for an old traffic ticket, which meant I had to give up a paid shift to show up, so my cushion is gone. I've already checked the St. Vincent de Paul thrift over on Florida Ave and the Goodwill outlet, but even their prices plus shoes and a shirt add up past what I can cover. I need $150 to put together something presentable. I can show you the interview confirmation and receipts, and once I get my first paycheck I'll pass the same amount to someone else here. Anything helps.

  • I start at a distribution center over on Otay Mesa Thursday morning, and I've got nothing but beat-up sneakers with the soles peeling off. The company handed me a list during the walkthrough: steel toe, slip resistant, no mesh. I've put in applications at three warehouses since the middle of last month and this is the first one that called back, so I'm not about to show up looking like I can't follow the rules. Here's the pinch. My final check from the temp agency was supposed to hit on the 3rd, but they pushed it to the 17th because of a payroll mess. Rent ate what I had left, and my EBT doesn't cover boots. I checked the Goodwill on Sports Arena and the thrift spot on El Cajon, and neither had my size in anything that would pass inspection. A friend told me about a couple of assistance programs, but their intake days don't line up before Thursday. I need $140 for a pair at the Red Wing outlet, which is the cheapest I've found that's actually certified. I'll send a photo of the receipt, and once that delayed check clears I'll cover the cost for the next person who posts here. Anyone who's been through this knows the first day sets the tone.

  • I got laid off from the Hy-Vee distribution center on the east side three weeks ago, and the timing could not be worse. My youngest, Maya, had an asthma flare-up right after that and the urgent care visit plus her inhaler ate the little I had set aside, so now the rent is behind and the landlord told me Friday is the last day before he files. I have two interviews next week, one at the Amazon warehouse in Bondurant and one at the Costco on Mills Civic, and I am terrified I will bomb them because we are out of basically everything except rice. I already went to the DMARC pantry on University and they gave us a bag, but it barely lasted, and I am on the waiting list for SNAP so that will not help in time. What I am asking for is $140 for a grocery run at the Aldi on Southeast 14th so the kids have milk, bread, eggs, and something for lunches. I will send a photo of the receipt to whoever helps, and once I get a paycheck I will put the same amount back into the DMARC donation bin. Ty for reading.

  • I lost my job at the auto parts warehouse on Hall Street back in April, and I've been getting by on odd jobs and plasma donations since. My lease is up on the 15th and I'm moving into a room at my cousin's place over on Gravois, which is a good thing, but it means hauling everything I own in one trip. I already reserved a 10-foot U-Haul for Saturday morning, $60 total with the mileage to get from my old place near the food pantry on South Grand over to the new spot. I tried selling my TV and my old treadmill on Marketplace to cover it, but nobody's biting and I don't have time to wait. I also checked with the front desk at the community center about their moving assistance list, and they're out of funds until next month. If someone could spot me the $60, I can pick up the truck Saturday and be out before the lease ends. I get paid from a landscaping gig on the 22nd, so I'll pay it forward to the next person on here right after, and I'll post a reply once the move is done.
