I'm in Baltimore, right off the highway in one of those apartment rows where you can hear 95 all night. On the 3rd my daycare lady raised her rates out of nowhere, mid-month, and I paid it because I can't lose that spot. That wiped me out. Then my mother's cardiac appointments started, and I have to be at the clinic with her every morning this week. The garage by the clinic takes cards but I don't have $90 to load onto one. I already asked my sister and she's tapped, and I called 211 and they gave me a list of places that all take two weeks to process. I tried parking on the side streets over by the hospital and got a $42 ticket on Tuesday. That's how I ended up here. If someone can cover the $90 I'll put it straight on a parking card and keep the receipts to show anyone who wants to see them. I get paid next Friday and I'll pass the same amount to whoever needs it here.

Sign in to view →My paycheck got garnished the day after I got back to work at the warehouse on Emerson, and I didn't find out until the money was already gone. What's left from the check will cover rent and the light bill, but not the bus. I've got two appointments in the next eight days, one to sort out the garnishment with the county office on Westfall and one at the workforce center on Ridgeway, and I can't miss either one or I lose the payment plan I just got set up. I already called 211 and they gave me some transportation lines to try, but the soonest a ride could get scheduled wasn't until the day after my first appointment, and the church pantry on Lake Ave has gas cards, not RTS passes. A $40 pass would get me through both trips plus the second trip back to sign papers. I get paid again the following Wednesday, and I'll come back and update this post when I do. If someone can help, I'll pay it forward by adding the same amount to the pass fund at the day center downtown.

I have a phone interview Thursday at the hotel on Canal and my one decent shirt has a stain I can't get out. I need $130 total, $80 for a thrift shop outfit near Magazine and $50 for groceries so I can eat something besides rice and ramen until my SNAP gets approved. I already checked with the Broad Street relief center, they're out of funds until next month. I called 211 twice and left a message. If someone covers this I'll bring receipts from the thrift store and the grocery to show exactly what it went to, and once my benefits back pay hits I'll put the same amount into the pot here for someone else. I can meet anywhere in Mid-City or send a photo of the receipts same day.

I've been doing a couple of shifts a week at a diner on Layton but it's not enough and my roommate just told me he's moving out because he can't carry the rent either. I found a studio in a complex off of 6th, near the airport, $310 cheaper than what we pay now. I already sold plasma twice this month and got $80 for that. Sold my snowblower on Marketplace for $60. That's going to cover the prorated rent part, but the landlord wants a $310 deposit and I don't have it. I've called Community Advocates and they're out of funds until the 1st, and the eviction prevention line never picked up. If I can get the $310 tonight I can sign the paperwork tomorrow morning and move before the end of the month. I'll send a picture of the signed lease and the receipt. Once I get back on my feet I'll put the same $310 back into somebody else's hands on here. Hal.

Two weeks ago I ended up in the ER with a kidney stone and the copay plus the lost shifts wiped out what I had set aside for rent. My landlord has been decent, but he needs the full amount by Friday or he starts the late fee process, and I can't cover the gap. I need $240 to make the payment whole. I've already asked my sister, sold an old monitor, picked up two extra closing shifts, and checked with the community action office downtown, but they're booked out past my deadline. What I'm asking for is a one-time bridge on this month's rent so I don't start next month already behind. I can show the rent statement and the hospital bill if needed, and I want to repay in two chunks once I get paid on the 15th and the 30th. After that I'll come back here and help someone else with a smaller amount so the favor keeps moving.

Then two Fridays ago I slipped on the wet steps at the Soulard apartment and messed up my knee, so now I have physical therapy at the clinic near the workforce center three mornings a week for the next six weeks. The problem is parking. The garage next to the clinic runs $18 a day, and there is nothing cheap nearby since the lot on the corner closed for construction. I tried the bus but with the brace and crutches it is a two-transfer nightmare and I missed my appointment Tuesday anyway. My UI back pay was supposed to hit last Thursday but got flagged for review, so I am waiting on that with $41 in checking. I need about $250 to cover garage parking and a couple of rideshare trips for the days the knee is bad, long enough to get through the first weeks of therapy. I can show the appointment schedule and my claim status screenshots. The second my back pay lands I will pay it forward to the food pantry on South Grand, and I will come back and post the receipt here.

I've been applying for work every morning at the library but they close at 6 and I've got my daughter, so evenings are shot. I lost my dispatch job in January when the company cut two shifts, and my child support withholding just jumped from $180 to $310 a month because they recalculated on last year's overtime. That was most of what I had left. The bill is $110 and it's due before the 1st; I've already called the provider and they won't extend it again. I sold my air fryer and two of my daughter's old coats to get to $40, which I need for gas to get to an interview Thursday at the logistics place out by the airport. I can show the shutoff notice and the support order. If someone covers the $110 I'll send a screenshot of the paid bill that day, and I'll pay it forward once I'm working.

I had been doing data entry from home on my old Dell in the mornings to make up the difference, but my charger finally gave out - the barrel plug is frayed and it only connects if I hold it at an angle, and even then it cuts off after ten minutes. The hub died the same week; two of the USB ports are dead and the ethernet one hasn't worked since fall. I need a replacement charger and a basic hub so I can get back to the contract work I lined up. I've already asked two churches near the mall and the Goodwill on Chattahoochee, no luck. There's a guy at my old job who might have a spare but he hasn't answered. The $140 covers the charger, hub, and shipping if I order it. My landlord is coming Friday to collect the washer/dryer card fee for our building, it's $250, and if I don't have it he says the laundry room access gets shut off for my unit. I've got two kids and a stack of uniforms, and there's no laundromat within walking distance that's open when I get off at 11. I already got $40 from a neighbor and asked the front office for an extension, no luck. The guys at the food pantry off Pershing told me to try here. This $250 gets the card paid and keeps us from hauling everything on the bus. The fan died yesterday, and the repair guy said the motor is shot. I need $180 to buy a replacement. I work overtime at a warehouse, but after the reorg last month, all overtime vanished. My next paycheck is in five days, but the heat advisory ends in 72 hours. I've already checked Craigslist and asked neighbors, but no one has a spare. I can pick up a new fan at a local store.
