Unemployment benefits by state

Pick your state, get an estimate from the published formula, and land on the official portal, not a lead-generation form.

WUUUH is not a government agency and does not file claims. Rules change; always confirm the deadline and documents on the official agency site.
Every state and DC is listed. Figures are approximate and are being verified state by state, so always confirm amounts and deadlines on the official agency site. The U.S. Department of Labor also keeps the official directory of every state agency.

Filing works the same way in every state

  1. File in the state where you worked, not where you live, if the two differ. If you worked in multiple states, file in the one with the most recent wages and expect a combined-wage claim.
  2. File in the first week after your last day. Most states start the claim from the week you file, not the week you stopped working.
  3. Expect a one-week waiting period in many states, and a base-period review based on the wages you earned in the prior 12-18 months.
  4. Keep certifying weekly or biweekly. Missing a certification is the most common cause of a payment gap.
  5. If you're denied, you usually have 10-30 days to appeal. See the appeal guide below.
