I got laid off from the distribution center over on Manchester in early April, and the lease on my place near the community college ended the same month. I'm staying with a friend off Troost while I look for work, which is fine, but the laundry situation is not. Their building has no hookups, so everything goes through the card-operated machines in the basement, and I'm down to $4.60 on my card with a hamper full of clothes I need for interviews. I've already sold my TV and my bike, applied at the Hy-Vee and two warehouses, and used up what was left of my savings on rent share and my phone bill. The $150 would load the laundry card plus a couple bus passes so I can get to interviews and the workforce center downtown. I keep a log of every load, and I can show receipts on the card app. Once my first paycheck comes in, I'll put the same amount on a neighbor's card here. I can stretch to next Wednesday if that helps.

Sign in to view →I got hired on at a warehouse down in Sodo about two weeks ago and the orientation guy told us we need steel-toe boots by our first real shift. Problem is my first check doesn't land until the 15th, and in the meantime the landlord wants what I owe by Friday or he starts the paperwork. I've been sleeping at my sister's place near Harborview since the start of the month, so I'm not even sure I have a mailing address worth giving anyone. I tried the union hall on Rainier and they said they only help members who've got dues in, and the Goodwill on Dearborn wanted me to come back for an intake appointment that's after my start date. I've got 40 bucks to my name, and decent boots at the store up on Fourth run about a hundred. Anything toward the difference is what I'm asking for, 60 to be exact. I'll bring the receipt and a photo of the boots at the job to show it went where I said, and once I've got a check or two behind me I'll put the same amount back into helping somebody else here get started.

I'm not making enough to cover gas some nights, let alone anything else. On top of that I've got a benefits hearing Monday morning that I cannot miss and three scheduled clinic visits at the night place over on the south side. My car is in the shop for a bad alternator, quote came back at $410 and I don't have it. I've already called 211 and left messages with two church groups near the food pantry, nobody's gotten back to me yet. I sold my old laptop for $80 which went straight to gas. What I need is $260 loaded onto a rideshare account so I can get to those appointments and the hearing without begging for rides. I can send screenshots of the appointment confirmations and the hearing notice. Once I'm back on the road I'll pay it forward, first decent week I get I'll cover someone else's fare through this same board.

Turns out a default judgment from an old medical bill was served at my previous address back in February, so I never got a chance to respond. My take-home went from $640 to $395, and my landlord at the two-bedroom on Stickney told me he can't carry me past the 30th. I found a studio near the old Libbey school for $525 a month and I can cover most of it, but I'm $210 short on the deposit. Already tried Lucas County Job and Family Services and the Salvation Army on North Superior, both said they're out of rental funds this month. I have three interviews Thursday morning, two through the workforce center in downtown, so I need to be moved and settled before then or I'll be showering at a friend's across town. I'll bring you the signed greement from the new landlord and a pay stub showing the garnishment. Once these interviews turn into a job I'll pay it back, the first $50 out of my second full check.

I lost my job at the distribution center out on Lagrange Road in early January, and my lease on the place in Lyndon ended two weeks later, so I've been staying with my sister over off Bardstown Road on the east side while I look for work. Her furnace runs on oil and the tank is nearly empty. She's got two kids and can't cover it on her own, and I don't have it either. I've already called the community action office and they said the next appointment for heating assistance isn't until mid-March, which doesn't help when the tank runs dry this week. I also sold my old snow tires to scrape together about $80, but that's not close. I need $300 to cover the minimum delivery so the tank doesn't run dry and the house stays warm. I can show the shutoff notice and the delivery receipt, and once I'm back on a shift I'll pay it forward to the next person on here who needs it.

We got a place in the South Flats but it was filthy when we moved in, previous tenants left grease everywhere and the bathroom had mold. I spent what little I had on the deposit and first month, so I used the last of my cash on a mop, two gallons of bleach, and trash bags, but that barely touched it. Then my asthma prescription jumped from $15 to $95 because my plan changed at work, and I had to cover that or I couldn't breathe well enough to keep cleaning. I got denied for the emergency assistance through the nearby community center because I'm still technically employed part time and they said my income was just over the line. I need $160 to get the rest of what it takes to make this place livable: heavy duty cleaner, gloves, a scrub brush set, trash bags, and one more mop head. I have two kids and we can't keep sleeping around this mess. I'll bring receipts to whoever helps and I'll pay it forward by donating my old cleaning stuff to the shelter on North Market when I'm done. The batteries are the 312 size and I usually get them through a bulk order at the hearing center on Frankford Ave, but my Medicaid ride benefit lapsed when I lost my job at the Amazon warehouse in late January and I haven't been able to get over there. I tried calling 311, they sent me to a health clinic list, but none of the ones nearby carry the batteries in stock. I checked the Rite Aid on Girard and they wanted $42 for a six pack, which is robbery, but I only have $11 to my name until my plasma donation pays out next week. The audiologist appointment is Friday and if I show up with dead aids they can't do the programming updates I need. I can PayPal someone back in two weeks when my first unemployment check clears, and I'll send a photo of the receipt. Just need to hear again, honestly.

The pantry feeds me fine but doesn't stock pet food, and I've got a nine-year-old pit mix named Junie who's been with me through two layoffs now. She's down to her last scoop of kibble mixed with rice, and I've already stretched this as far as it goes. I called the Humane Society, they're out of their pet pantry vouchers until next month, and the pet food bank over on Jackson only does distribution the second Saturday. I'm asking for $90 to get a 30-pound bag and a case of wet food, which should get her to the end of the month and past my hearing date. I'll send the receipt from Petco on Poplar as soon as I buy it, no problem there. Once my back pay comes through I'm setting aside the same amount to hand off to whoever helped me, because I know exactly how this feels when it's the animal that suffers with you.

They were supposed to pay weekly, but the deposit for last week never showed up. I called the office twice and got told the check run got held up and it would be another week. Fine, except my hours got cut the week before when a shift got canceled, so I was already tight. Between the copays for my inhaler and my kid's antibiotic, I'm looking at $160 I don't have. I already called 211 and they gave me a list of places, but the earliest appointment any of them had was into next month, and I can't wait that long on the inhaler. I sold my spare phone for $40 and that went straight to the pharmacy, so this is the rest. If someone can cover the copays I can pay it back the Friday after next when the agency finally cuts the check, or forward it to whoever's next in line here. I just need to get the prescriptions filled this week. Happy to text a photo of the receipt and the pharmacy slip to whoever helps, so you know it went where I said.
