  • I got laid off from the freight dock at the port in mid-February, and after six weeks of applications the only bite I've gotten is a final-round interview for a warehouse lead job out on the east side. The interview is Thursday morning. My problem is simple: I have $11 in my account and the tank is on empty. Union dues came out the same week the truck needed two new tires, so that ate what little I had set aside, and now I'm stuck. I already sold my plasma twice this month and borrowed $40 from my brother, which went straight to groceries. I'm asking for $230: enough for gas to get there, a haircut, and printing my resume and references at the copy shop. I can pick up cash or a gas card in person near the transit hub this weekend, or meet wherever is easiest for you. I'll send a photo of the interview confirmation once I'm back, and as soon as that first paycheck lands I'll pay it forward to someone on here who's in the same spot.

  • I lost my job at the Rochester Auto Parts warehouse on Culver Road in early November when they cut the night shift. My lease on a one-bedroom near the river is up at the end of the month and I'm moving into a room at a friend's place in Charlotte, which I can afford on unemployment, barely. The problem is I have nowhere to put my stuff while I wait for the room to open up in January. I reserved a U-Haul for Saturday but I still need $280 for the truck and the first month on a 5x10 storage unit on Ridge Road. I tried 211 and St. Joseph's, both told me their emergency funds are tapped out until after the holidays. I sold my TV and a bike already, that got me about half. I can send a photo of the storage invoice and the U-Haul quote, and I'll pay it back once my first unemployment check clears, plus I'll help anyone else on here with hauling or a ride if they need it. Cash or Venmo, whatever's easiest.

  • I got laid off from the warehouse over on Vista around the end of last month, and I'm stuck in a bad spot with my rent. I live in a weekly place near the old Safeway on Wells, and I'm $240 short for this week. If I don't pay by Thursday, they'll give my room to someone else. I already went to the workforce center by the DMV on Kietzke and they said rental help takes up to two weeks, but I don't have that kind of time. I sold my car and paid the deposit on this room, so I'm pretty much tapped out. I don't have a checking account, so I can meet you at the 7-Eleven on Oddie and get a money order for you to cash. I don't have anyone else to ask. As soon as I start my new job at the Amazon warehouse on Tuesday, I'll pay back $40 a week until I've covered the $240. I promise. If you can help, I'll send you a picture of the receipt the same day and keep you updated every week until the debt is cleared.

  • My mother has three oncology appointments at the Levine Cancer Institute off Morehead Street this coming Tuesday through Thursday, and I'm the only one who can drive her. I had a paid shift at the Amazon delivery station in west Charlotte on Tuesday that I couldn't move, and now I'm trying to cover both. My car got ticketed near the hospital last month and I'm not trying to get towed again, so I need to park in the deck instead of the free side streets that fill up by 7am. The deck runs about $18 a day with the validation sticker, and three days plus the $40 I still owe on the old citation comes to $140. I already asked my sister and my old supervisor at the temp agency, and both are tapped out this month. I've sold two of my tools on Marketplace but only cleared $60 so far. I can show you the appointment printout and the parking receipts, and I'll pay it back the first Friday after I get my next paycheck from the warehouse, which is scheduled for the 14th. Anything helps, even part of it.

  • My wife and I are in a nasty spot on the south side of Little Rock, a couple blocks off the community college campus. I was driving a box truck for a produce distributor until the route got cut in February, and unemployment has been fighting me on the paperwork since. Then Entergy hit us with a shutoff notice, and we emptied what was left in checking to keep the lights on. That same week the pharmacy moved my wife's thyroid prescription to a higher tier and quoted me $61 instead of $18, and our 10-month-old outgrew the crib mattress we'd been given, which was already sagging and secondhand. I tried the food pantry at the church on Tyler, but they only run Tuesdays and the line was around the block. I'm asking for $240 to cover a real grocery run for the three of us plus a fresh mattress, which I found at a discount place off Baseline for around $70. I'll bring back receipts and drop the extra into the same fund for the next family if there is one. Anything helps, and thank you.

  • I share a rented room off Ferguson Road near the county office, and two weeks ago the upstairs neighbors' Wi-Fi got shut off, which is what I'd been relying on to submit my weekly job applications at the library. I do work, just not enough - twenty-two hours a week at a warehouse on Miller Road, and the last two checks came in under $240 each after they cut overtime. My payday is the 3rd, but my food stamps don't reload until the 7th, so I'm looking at empty shelves and a hungry kid. I already sold my bike and took a $50 advance from my boss, which I have to pay back out of the next check. The $300 would go straight to staples at the Aldi on Buckner: rice, beans, eggs, milk, frozen vegetables, bread, peanut butter, and a couple of things my daughter will actually eat. I'll bring back the receipt to the same person who helps me, and once I'm current I'll put $25 into the community fund at the end of March so someone else can get through a tight week.

  • The water bill for my apartment here in El Paso is $80 short and the shutoff notice says service ends Friday morning. I live by the transit hub with my brother and his kid, and we split everything three ways because nobody's working steady. He was doing warehouse shifts through a temp agency out on the east side until they cut his hours in early February, and I've been cleaning short-term rentals since the fall, but the bookings dried up right after the holidays. I already sold our old window AC and got $40 for it, and the front office said there's no extension this time because we were late in January too. What I need is help covering the difference so the water stays on. Anything at all helps, even if it just gets us closer. I can show the notice and the account statement as proof, and I'll pay it forward once my next cleaning gig clears. The transit hub is close if meeting up is easier. Thanks for reading.

  • I got laid off from the parts plant on Michigan Ave in late June, and the severance ran out faster than I expected. Unemployment is still pending - I filed the first week of July and keep getting told it's under review. My three kids are home for summer break and school starts in three weeks. I'm in a two bedroom off the Southfield Freeway service drive, and between rent and keeping the lights on I have nothing left for supplies. I've already been to the school's supply giveaway, but they only had notebooks and a few pencils left by the time I got there, and my oldest needs a graphing calculator for algebra. I've sold a couple things on Marketplace and asked my sister, but she's stretched too. The $300 would cover the supply lists and backpacks for all three plus the calculator, and I'd keep every receipt to show exactly where it went. Once I'm back on a paycheck I'll return it or pay it into the same kind of fund for someone else here.

  • I'm in Virginia Beach, over by the community college on the Tidewater side, and I'm stuck for the next few days. My renter's insurance denied a claim I filed after a pipe leaked under my kitchen sink, so the money I'd set aside to restock the pantry went to the plumber instead. I'm down to a half bag of rice and some cans of green beans, and my EBT doesn't reload until the 12th. I need about $190 to get through two weeks of actual meals: eggs, milk, bread, vegetables, some chicken, and a couple of frozen dinners for the nights I work late at the outlet mall. I've already called the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and left a message at the church pantry on Aragona, but they're booked out past next Wednesday. If someone can help, I'll send a photo of the receipt the same day. I'll pay it forward once my hours pick back up at the end of the month.

  • I work remote doing medical billing from a converted closet in my apartment near Southside Park, and last Tuesday my charger finally gave out mid-shift. The laptop still runs but the battery's shot, so I'm dead in the water without a cord. I ordered a used one off eBay but the seller shipped it to my old address in North Highlands, and by the time I caught it, it had already been returned to sender. Meanwhile my insurance denied a claim for an urgent care visit from three weeks ago, so the $160 I'd set aside for that is now going to a bill I thought was covered. I had two PTO days left and used one already just trying to sort this out. I need about $130 for a genuine charger from the Best Buy on Arden and a basic USB hub, because both my ports are loose and I can't run the second monitor without it. I can meet someone near the downtown library or the R Street co-op any evening after 5, or Cash App works if that's easier. I'll send a screenshot of the receipt the same night, and once my next invoice clears on the 15th, I'll pass the $130 along to whoever's next in line here.
