Hi, I'm in St. Louis and I'm short on groceries for my two kids and myself. My hours at the warehouse got cut from 40 to 24 a week in early March, and my last paycheck was $310 instead of the $520 I'd budgeted. I've already visited the food pantry at the community center on Kingshighway, but they only had canned goods and I still need milk, eggs, bread, and some fresh produce. I also tried St. Vincent de Paul, but they couldn't help until next month. I get paid again on the 15th, so I just need to bridge about ten days. I'm asking for $150 to cover a grocery run at Aldi and a few essentials like diapers for my youngest. I can show my pay stub and the pantry slip to confirm, and I'll pay it forward by volunteering at the pantry once I'm back on my feet. Any help would mean the world right now.

Sign in to view →I got hired on at the Tyson plant out on the bypass doing sanitation, which is nights and pays decent, but orientation is Monday and they require steel-toe boots that meet their spec. I don't have a pair that passes and I can't show up without them. Unemployment ran out in November and I've been doing DoorDash but my car needs a wheel bearing so that's basically dead. I sold my Xbox and a couple of tools, got $60 toward it. My old boots are rotted through at the toe from the last warehouse job, they won't pass inspection. I checked the Goodwill on Vann Drive and both pawn shops on the north side, nothing in my size that's actually safety rated. The boots I need are 130 at the Boot Barn, plus tax gets me right at 180. I've applied at the workforce center but that takes weeks. If someone can spot me this I'll send a picture of the receipt and the boots on my feet at the plant, and my first paycheck is the 15th so I can pay it back or pass it to whoever's next in line here. I'm good for it and this job is the whole ballgame right now.

Sign in to view →I live in the riverside blocks off Kanawha Boulevard, and I'm asking for $310 to pick up a prescription I've been without since the 14th. I lost my job at the end of January when the distribution center cut our shift, and my unemployment deposit was supposed to land last Wednesday. It still hasn't shown up, and the state office told me it's stuck in adjudication. I've called my pharmacy and they'll hold it until Thursday, but I can't pay the co-pay without the deposit. I have two interviews Thursday morning, one at the hardware store on the west side and one at a call center downtown, and I can't function without this medication. I already tried asking my old coworkers, but most of them are in the same spot. I sold my bike last week for $40 to cover groceries. Any help would go straight to the pharmacy counter. I'll post the receipt and pay it forward once my back pay clears.

Sign in to view →Two weeks ago the starter and a wheel bearing went out on our Civic the same week my hours got cut at the Ballard fish market. My partner Marcus had a warehouse shift lined up through a temp agency in Sodo, but he couldn't get there, and the temp place stopped calling after two no-shows. We burned through the last of savings on the repair. Rent came out Tuesday and left us $40, which went to gas. I've been to the Ballard Food Bank twice this month and their pantry days don't line up with my shift, and the Little Free Pantry on our block is mostly canned beans right now. We have two kids, 6 and 11, and I need about $320 for groceries at Grocery Outlet in Crown Hill and a little for gas to get Marcus to the new job he starts Monday at an Amazon fulfillment center in Kent. I'll send a photo of the receipt to whoever helps and I'll pay it forward at the food bank once our second check lands. I just need to get through to the 15th.

Sign in to view →Terminated on October 3 from a warehouse job in Fulton Industrial after I reported a forklift battery that was leaking acid near the break room. I filed a retaliation complaint with the National Labor Relations Board in early November and paid the $15 notary and two rounds of copies out of tip money from DoorDash. The last week of November I got three registered letters back from my landlord, a collection agency on a $442 medical bill, and the appeals section saying my first packet was missing the signature page. I have a hearing scheduled for December 18 and everything has to go out certified with return receipt. I already tried mailing it first class on December 2, which is why two of the three came back. The $170 is postage for the priority envelopes plus the return receipt, and a new print card at the library over on Joseph E. Boone. Court date on the 18th conflicted with a paid shift at the temp agency that day, so I am already down $96 this pay period. I can show the receipt stubs and my hearing notice. I will pay it forward at Fernbank Elementary when they do the winter coat drive, I already have two hours signed up for that Saturday. Cash App or a money order both work.

Sign in to view →My roommate took off two weeks ago and left me with the whole rent plus everything else, and the house out here off Eastern Parkway runs on oil heat, not gas. The tank's down to about a quarter and the furnace guy who came out Tuesday said don't let it hit empty or the line pulls sludge and it's a whole different repair. I called LIHEAP and they said the next appointment isn't till the 19th, and I can't float that long. I've already asked my uncle and two guys from my old shift at the warehouse, but everyone's tapped out right now. I'm picking up shifts at a diner over by the hospital district starting next week, so the $150 would get me roughly a week and a half of heat until that first paycheck clears. I'll send whoever helps a photo of the delivery ticket and a copy of the receipt, and once I'm back on my feet I'll put the same amount into the little food pantry box at my church on Barrett. Anything helps, even part of it.

Sign in to view →The shutoff notice from the city water department is sitting on my counter right now. It says service gets cut Friday if I don't pay $170 by Thursday at 5. I fell behind after my hours got cut at the warehouse on 27th Avenue back in February, and I've been doing food delivery on the side, but it's been slow and the car needed a brake job that ate everything I'd saved. I already called the water department to ask for an extension and they gave me ten extra days, which is how I got to this week. I also tried the community action agency near the hospital district, but their emergency funds are tapped out until next month. I have two interviews Thursday morning, one at a distribution center and one at a hotel on Camelback, and I can't show up unwashed with two kids at home on spring break. I'll send a screenshot of the paid receipt as soon as it goes through, and I'll pay it forward the first paycheck I get. Anything helps, even part of it.

Sign in to view →I live over by Rose Park, quiet little cul-de-sac off the frontage road. My roommate took off two Fridays ago without a word and with her half of the rent and most of what was in the freezer. I work part-time at a storage place on North Temple, 28 hours if they schedule me full, and that check doesn't come until the 3rd. I've been stretching rice and canned soup for nine days and I'm down to a half bag of frozen peas. My neighbor Barb gave me two boxes of spaghetti and a jar of sauce, which got us to yesterday, but there's nothing left for this week for me and my kid. I need about $270 to get a real grocery run at the WinCo on 700 West, staples, milk, eggs, some meat, PB&J stuff for lunches. I don't have a car so Barb is driving me Thursday evening after 5, that's the only window that works with her schedule. I can show the receipt and my benefit letter if needed. I'll pay it back the week of the 5th when I get paid, and in the meantime I'll send what I can every Friday, even $20 helps, because I've been on the other end of this before and I know how it feels.

Sign in to view →I got laid off from the Tesla plant off Harold Green in February, along with about forty other people on my shift. I've been applying everywhere since then and finally landed two interviews next week, one at the Amazon warehouse in Pflugerville on Tuesday and one at a plumbing supply place off Burleson on Thursday. Here's my problem. My daughter is three and her daycare wants the next two weeks upfront, $225, or she can't come back, and I'm about a quarter tank from empty. I need roughly $310 total to cover that and put gas in my Corolla so I can actually get to these interviews. I already sold my plasma twice this month and borrowed $40 from my brother, but he's laid off too. My neighbor Denise said she'd watch her Tuesday morning for free, which helps. If I get either job I start within a week and can pay this back the first Friday I get a check. I'll send a photo of the daycare receipt and you can call them to verify, and I'd be glad to pass whatever's left to the next person on here once I'm working.

Sign in to view →I lost my job at the end of January when the warehouse over on Berea Road cut the whole night shift. My lease in the South Flats ended the same week, so I've been crashing with my sister in Old Brooklyn while I look for work, and my car is basically my office right now. The battery in my Civic died Tuesday night in the Marc's parking lot on Pearl. I got a jump from a guy in the lot, but it wouldn't hold and died again Wednesday morning. Advance Auto quoted me $230 for the battery and install, and I have $41 until the 15th. I already tried the battery recondition at the shop on Ridge, didn't work. I've got two interviews next week: one at the airport for a ramp job and one at the Giant Eagle distribution center. I can't miss either one, bus doesn't get me there in time. I'll bring the receipt from Advance and a photo of the new battery once it's in. When the ramp job pays out, I'll put $100 back on WUUUH for somebody else's emergency.
