Guide
Severance basics
Severance is a company offer, not a government benefit. Read the packet for money, health coverage end dates, and what you are asked to waive.
This is general education, not legal advice. For a release agreement, consider an employment attorney in your state.
Cash timing: When is the payment deposited? Does it arrive before your first UI week?
Benefits end date: COBRA or marketplace windows are short — put them on a calendar.
Release language: What rights are you waiving? Can you still file UI or pursue unpaid wages?
Non-compete / non-solicit: Know what you signed before interviewing competitors.
