UX Designer - design systems (Grand Rapids, MI)

Fernwood Birch Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Grand Rapids working with agencies and riders. We are hiring a UX Designer to take on design systems. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Design for tasks around route schedules that people do under time pressure. • Interview users and staff to understand where the current experience fails. • Sketch, prototype and test new flows with real people. • Audit screens for accessibility and readability. • Work with developers so designs ship as intended. What we are looking for • Comfort with Figma or a similar tool. • Two or more years of UX or product design experience. • Care for plain language and accessibility. • A portfolio showing your process, not only finished screens. Nice to have • Experience running usability tests. • Background in route schedules. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Grand Rapids. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
