UX Designer - design systems (Chicago, IL)

Fernwood Maple Community Partners Group runs community programmes across Chicago, and we need a UX Designer to lead our design systems. You would join a large organisation of about 995 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Audit screens for accessibility and readability. • Maintain a small design system of reusable components. • Design for tasks around volunteer shifts that people do under time pressure. • Interview users and staff to understand where the current experience fails. • Sketch, prototype and test new flows with real people. What we are looking for • A portfolio showing your process, not only finished screens. • Care for plain language and accessibility. • Comfort with Figma or a similar tool. • Two or more years of UX or product design experience. Nice to have • Background in volunteer shifts. • Experience running usability tests. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
