UX Designer - design systems (Chicago, IL)

Westbrook Union Transit Planning is looking for a UX Designer. The job centres on design systems for route schedules, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Design for tasks around route schedules that people do under time pressure. • Interview users and staff to understand where the current experience fails. • Maintain a small design system of reusable components. • Work with developers so designs ship as intended. • Audit screens for accessibility and readability. What we are looking for • Care for plain language and accessibility. • Two or more years of UX or product design experience. • Comfort with Figma or a similar tool. • A portfolio showing your process, not only finished screens. Nice to have • Background in route schedules. • Experience running usability tests. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Chicago. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
