Software Engineer - web applications (Virginia Beach, VA)

Westbrook Haven Insurance is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on web applications for underwriting files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 140 people based in Virginia Beach. What you will do • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Virginia Beach. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
