Software Engineer - web applications (remote)

Bright Loom Insurance Group is an insurance company in Birmingham with claims and service teams, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our web applications. Claims teams work together and share what they learn. What you will do • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Turn requests about policy renewals into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Experience with policy renewals. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Birmingham. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
