Software Engineer - web applications (remote)

Fernwood Corner Insurance Group is an insurance company in Spokane with claims and service teams, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our web applications. You would join a small organisation of about 53 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about customer complaints into simple, maintainable software. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Experience with customer complaints. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Spokane. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
