Software Engineer - web applications (remote)

Fernwood Nest Early Learning runs childcare centres in Philadelphia caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our web applications. You would join a small organisation of about 31 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Turn requests about licensing records into simple, maintainable software. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with licensing records. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Philadelphia. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
