Software Engineer - web applications (remote)

Amberfield Junction Community Partners is a nonprofit in Detroit supporting families with food, housing and job help, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our web applications. We are small enough to know everyone's name. What you will do • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about volunteer shifts into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with volunteer shifts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Detroit. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
