Software Engineer - web applications (remote)

Westbrook Amber Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Savannah, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our web applications. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about customer complaints into simple, maintainable software. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Savannah. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
