Software Engineer - web applications (Oakland, CA)

Lumen Ember Learning Group is an education provider in Oakland serving students and families, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our web applications. Collaboration between teachers and staff is strong. What you will do • Turn requests about family communication into simple, maintainable software. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. What we are looking for • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Experience with family communication. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Oakland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
