Software Engineer - web applications (Des Moines, IA)

Fernwood Lakeside Transit Planning Partners is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on web applications for ridership counts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about ridership counts into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
