Software Engineer - web applications (Chicago, IL)

Westbrook Clear Transit Planning is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on web applications for fare systems, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Turn requests about fare systems into simple, maintainable software. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
