Software Engineer - web applications (Birmingham, AL)

Fernwood Juniper Transit Planning Group is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on web applications for fare systems, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Turn requests about fare systems into simple, maintainable software. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Birmingham. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
