Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (remote)

Northwind Thistle Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around Pittsburgh. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on reliability and monitoring. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about underwriting files into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Pittsburgh. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
