Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (remote)

Northwind Ember Early Learning Group runs childcare centres in Detroit caring for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our reliability and monitoring. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Turn requests about tuition and subsidies into simple, maintainable software. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Experience with tuition and subsidies. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Detroit. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
