Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (remote)

Amberfield Umber Energy is an energy provider in Raleigh focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on reliability and monitoring. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about meter readings into simple, maintainable software. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with meter readings. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Raleigh. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
