Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (remote)

Amberfield West Energy is an energy provider in Chicago focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on reliability and monitoring. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Turn requests about outage response into simple, maintainable software. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with outage response. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
