Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (Oakland, CA)

Northwind West Transit Planning Group plans bus and rail service for cities around Oakland, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our reliability and monitoring. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with service alerts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
