Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (Des Moines, IA)

Northwind Iron Insurance Group provides coverage to households and businesses around Des Moines, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our reliability and monitoring. You would join a small organisation of about 13 people based in Des Moines. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Turn requests about underwriting files into simple, maintainable software. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
