Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (Birmingham, AL)

Stonegate Orchard Energy is an energy provider in Birmingham focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on reliability and monitoring. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about outage response into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with outage response. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Birmingham. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
