Software Engineer - mobile experience (remote)

Fernwood Loom Insurance is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on mobile experience for customer complaints, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 112 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about customer complaints into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Honolulu. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
