Software Engineer - mobile experience (Des Moines, IA)

Fernwood Iron Insurance is an insurance company in Des Moines with claims and service teams, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our mobile experience. Claims teams work together and share what they learn. What you will do • Turn requests about underwriting files into simple, maintainable software. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Experience with underwriting files. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
