Software Engineer - internal tools (San Jose, CA)

Fernwood Holdings is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on internal tools for field inspections, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Turn requests about field inspections into simple, maintainable software. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. What we are looking for • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Experience with field inspections. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in San Jose, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
