Software Engineer - internal tools (remote)

Northwind West Energy delivers power and gas plans across the Detroit region. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on internal tools. You would join a large organisation of about 797 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about service connections into simple, maintainable software. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with service connections. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in Detroit. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
