Software Engineer - internal tools (remote)

Bright Field Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Raleigh and nearby communities, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our internal tools. You would join a small organisation of about 95 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Turn requests about pipe repairs into simple, maintainable software. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with pipe repairs. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with an occasional day on site in Raleigh. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
