Software Engineer - internal tools (remote)

Fernwood Summit Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Louisville and nearby communities, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our internal tools. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Turn requests about billing accounts into simple, maintainable software. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Experience with billing accounts. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Louisville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
