Software Engineer - internal tools (Portland, OR)

Amberfield North Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Portland. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on internal tools. You would join a small organisation of about 153 people based in Portland. What you will do • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about customer complaints into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Experience with customer complaints. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Portland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
