Software Engineer - internal tools (New Orleans, LA)

Fernwood Timber Water Authority is a public water utility serving the New Orleans area, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our internal tools. Our work is invisible when it goes well, and we are proud of that. What you will do • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Turn requests about water quality into simple, maintainable software. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Experience with water quality. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in New Orleans. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
