Software Engineer - internal tools (Kansas City, MO)

Harborlight Fox Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Kansas City. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on internal tools. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Turn requests about claims into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Kansas City, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
