Software Engineer - internal tools (Hartford, CT)

Northwind Thistle Insurance is looking for a Software Engineer. The job centres on internal tools for claims, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Turn requests about claims into simple, maintainable software. What we are looking for • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Experience with claims. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
