Software Engineer - internal tools (Columbus, OH)

Fernwood Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around Columbus. We are hiring a Software Engineer to take on internal tools. Technicians travel and report carefully. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Turn requests about field inspections into simple, maintainable software. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Experience with field inspections. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Columbus. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
