Software Engineer - internal tools (Chicago, IL)

We are growing our team at Amberfield Pike Community Partners and adding a Software Engineer whose main responsibility will be internal tools. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Turn requests about volunteer shifts into simple, maintainable software. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with volunteer shifts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
