Software Engineer - internal tools (Charlotte, NC)

Fernwood Birch Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Charlotte working with agencies and riders, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our internal tools. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Turn requests about ridership counts into simple, maintainable software. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. What we are looking for • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Charlotte, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
