Software Engineer - internal tools (Buffalo, NY)

Cedar North Insurance Partners provides coverage to households and businesses around Buffalo, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our internal tools. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Buffalo. What you will do • Turn requests about underwriting files into simple, maintainable software. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Buffalo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
