Software Engineer - internal tools (Anchorage, AK)

Rivermark Thistle Insurance Group is an insurance company in Anchorage with claims and service teams, and we need a Software Engineer to lead our internal tools. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Turn requests about customer complaints into simple, maintainable software. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Anchorage, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
