Senior Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (remote)

We are growing our team at Highbridge Fern Transit Planning and adding a Senior Software Engineer whose main responsibility will be reliability and monitoring. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Turn requests about ridership counts into simple, maintainable software. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with ridership counts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Kansas City. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
