Senior Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (Houston, TX)

Bright Oak Transit Planning Group is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The job centres on reliability and monitoring for fare systems, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 263 people based in Houston. What you will do • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Turn requests about fare systems into simple, maintainable software. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of professional software development. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Houston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
