Senior Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (Birmingham, AL)

Summit Hollow Transit Planning Group is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The job centres on reliability and monitoring for fare systems, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Turn requests about fare systems into simple, maintainable software. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. What we are looking for • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Birmingham. • We reply to every applicant.
