Senior Software Engineer - reliability and monitoring (Birmingham, AL)

Summit Clear Energy Group supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Birmingham. We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to take on reliability and monitoring. You would join a small organisation of about 29 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Turn requests about service connections into simple, maintainable software. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Experience with service connections. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
