Senior Software Engineer - internal tools (remote)

Silverline Thistle Insurance is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The job centres on internal tools for catastrophe response, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 74 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Turn requests about catastrophe response into simple, maintainable software. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Build and maintain web features used every day by our staff and customers. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. What we are looking for • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Two or more years of professional software development. Nice to have • Cloud deployment experience. • Experience with catastrophe response. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Hartford. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
