Senior Software Engineer - internal tools (Austin, TX)

Fernwood Ember Community Partners is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. The job centres on internal tools for grant reporting, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 18 people based in Austin. What you will do • Fix bugs quickly and add tests so they stay fixed. • Review teammates' code and share what you learn. • Turn requests about grant reporting into simple, maintainable software. • Integrate our systems with vendors and partners through APIs. • Improve monitoring so we hear about problems before customers do. What we are looking for • Care about security and privacy of the data we hold. • Proficiency in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, Python, Java or C#. • Two or more years of professional software development. • Comfort with SQL and a relational database. Nice to have • Experience with grant reporting. • Cloud deployment experience. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
