Senior Accountant - revenue reconciliation (Baltimore, MD)

Redstone Pine Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Baltimore and nearby communities, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our revenue reconciliation. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to water quality, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with water quality. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Baltimore. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
