Senior Accountant - month-end close (Toledo, OH)

Westbrook Fern Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of Toledo, and we need a Senior Accountant to lead our month-end close. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to proof of delivery, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with proof of delivery.
